Crookham Co. has pledged $50,000 for the 2012-13 school year plus $10,000 per year in the years that follow, to help fund the P16 program Caldwell schools launched last year to promote learning and success from preschool through college. The donation from the prominent Canyon County agribusiness brings P16’s donations above the $1 million mark and will help expand the program’s preschool and"out of school” components, according to a news release from United Way of Treasure Valley, which is handling the funding for P16."We hope this pledge inspires others in Canyon County to join us, whether financially or through spreading the word, as we work toward real change in education,” said Mary Crookham, chief financial office for Crookham Co., a major supplier of sweet corn, popcorn and onion seeds. "Our goal is to make this a very long-term commitment," said company CEO George Crookham.
